MUA Purchases

Hello, hope you’re all well :)

Ok so whilst innocently browsing the Superdrug website I noticed that they have free shipping until the 20th June because of it being Fathers day. I decided to get a few things from the “new” £1 MUA range (Makeup Academy). As money isn’t exactly in abundance right now I just got a few bits. I also had a 10% off code from one of my Superdrug receipts from in store. Meaning I got this little lot for £5.40

As a little side note in case some of you don’t know, when you get a receipt from Superdrug they often give you a separate one telling you to fill out a survey online to get *I think* 15% off your next purchases and 20% Superdrug own brands. You fill in the survey and you get a code that you write on the receipt and take with you. There is usually a 10% off code to use on your first online order too.

Ok sorry about that, now on to the good stuff and not so good stuff.

I got 2 eyeshadows, a lipstick, a lipgloss and 2 nail polishes.DSCF3641

Swatches:
Eyeshadows – Shade 4 & 9

Lipstick – Shade 7 (on Kim’s recommendation)

Nail Polishes – Shade 5 & 12

I do like everything I got, especially the eyeshadows and nail polishes. I am however disappointed with shipping time I ordered Tuesday mid afternoon and didn’t receive my order until Saturday morning. Now I guess that isn’t too bad considering that if you place your order after 2pm it isn’t processed until the next working day. But that’s still a long time considering you pay £3 for p&p usually. Also my items came rattling around in a bubble envelope (which my postie just shoved through the letter box), no extra protection. I know they only cost £1 each but I’d still like them to get here in one piece.

Another thing I’m not happy about is this;

Again I know its only £1 but I still expect to be able to twist my lipstick up more than once without this happening.

Bleeding Beauty also did a post recently on the MUA brand. And noted that this is not a new brand at all, which made me realise that I already own a couple of things from Makeup Academy. An eyeshadow palette and a nail polish, which by the way is more than double the size of the “new” MUA polishes and only cost 99p ;)DSCF3661DSCF3662
All in all you can’t really go wrong with the MUA range, its decent quality and budget friendly. You can afford to try out colours that perhaps you wouldn’t usually and if you don’t like it you haven’t lost much. I will probably buy a few more polishes if I find a store that sells the range but I’m in no rush and won’t order them online.

If you want to see reviews of anything in this post or any other post then please let me know :)

  3. I nipped into TJ Hughes when I was at uni, and I saw some products with the Make Up Academy name and wondered if they were the same brand. I've got the Shade 12 nail polish too, it's gorgeous :D Great application too, can't believe how good it was for the price :) xx

  4. I wish we had this line in the states. I'm definitely a drugstore makeup shopper and this would suit me money wise.

  5. The superdrug website is so rubbish i don't think i'll ever buy from it. The lipstick looks really good but what awful packaging! :/ It's super cheeky about the nail varnish but i do like this brand a lot, how could i not when it's only £1??

  6. Nooberella - Haha probably, it wouldn't surprise me.

Shopping Addict - Is that a new or old Makeup Academy shade?
These wear really well too :)

Kim - That's where I got the black polish from ;) It does appear to be the same brand. I know I was very surprised and expected it to chip after a few hours but even on day 3 I had no chips or tip wear.

Stephine - Awwsh you have other great cheap "drugstore" brands though from what I have seen. Yes it is very budget friendly :)

Lillian - It really is crap, no real swatches or anything. I know in itself its a lovely lipstick but I was so disappointed. I know right, but yes for £1 you can't really complain haha

    thanks for your comments xxxx
