Weight Loss

Around a year ago I decided it was time for change as I was not happy in my body and was sick of feeling down about it. Whilst trawling the internet for diets and healthy recipes I found out about a website called Myfitnesspal. I signed up instantly and entered my weight and measurements into the calculator along with my goal weight and it came back with how many calories etc I was "allowed" to eat in a day.

I found it really difficult to log my meals to begin with because I love all the things that are not very good for you and not many things that are good for you, also I am not the biggest fan of exercise. However I got into it really quickly and weighed myself every 1 - 2 weeks and took my measurements and logged them on the site. It was so motivating to see the little ticker on my profile with how many lbs I had lost.

Then in May last year, I fell off the wagon with a massive bump. I went on Holiday and there were too many goodies that I just couldn't resist. I told myself I would pick it straight back up when I got back home. I did, I started to log my meals again and I even started to exercise more and whats more is I actually began to enjoy it. I was following a few videos on YouTube from ToneItUp and I was getting into doing them nearly every day of the week with a couple of rest days in between. I was finally starting to like the way my body looked and had more confidence. Also I felt healthier inside and I liked it. As well as those benefits it also inspired my Mom to start cutting down and exercising and she lost a lot of weight as well, most of it from when she had my Sister in 2010.

Then October rolled around and we went on holiday again, once again I fell of the wagon. This time I just couldn't get back on, all I wanted to do was stuff my face with "bad" foods. I blame the Autumn and Winter weather, it makes me feel so down and when I'm down. . . I eat. Bad, but true. Obviously Christmas then came around with its sweet treats and comforting foods and I just let my healthy eating slip, into oblivion.

That is until now, its been a good few months and I can really see the difference in my body and I can feel it on the inside the effect these foods have on me and I really don't like it. I have started logging everything I eat and drink on MyFitnessPal again and I'm enjoying it. I know that counting calories is not for everyone and many probably don't agree with it but I find it the easiest way to control what I'm eating and how much of it I'm eating as well. I have an issue with portion control.

I really do think that logging everything you eat makes you realise just how much shit you shovel down you, sometimes just for the sake of it.

So far I have lost 16lbs (since I started) and I am nearing my goal weight again. Don't get me wrong I don't think I'm obese or anything I'm just not happy they way I am at the moment and I'm not doing this for anyone else but me. If you use MyFitnessPal add me as a friend on there http://www.myfitnesspal.com/TanyaL0uise and we can motivate each other. Its a great site because not only can you track your calorie intake etc, but you can log your exercise measurements. There is also a forum for the users with lots of inspirational posts as well as recipes and meal ideas.

If anyone else is on a weight loss journey at the moment then good luck!
